So this morning Brandon woke up early and was excited to go back outside and enjoy the sudden summer weather....and most importantly the sprinkler we had picked the kids up.....just a cheap little thing at Walmart, that had provided a good 2 hrs of fun last evening.
I explained to him that he needed to eat breakfast, get dressed and play a while before going outside to play in the water, as it was a still a little chilly out. He said "then me outside and play in wa ( water )" I said yes, then you can go out and play in the water. He ran into the bedroom, woke up Brianna exclaiming "Anna, Anna get up we eat breakfast then go outside and play in wa" She smiled that smile she does so often and was on a mission to get something to eat. She was in such a good mood given the sudden early morning "wake up call" which involved Brandon jumping up on the bed and exitedly hollaring. They proceeded to the living room, Bill got up, jumped in the shower and I was getting ready for work. It dawned on me that they were awfully quiet, so I decided to see just exactly what they were up to, when I walked around the corner to the living room here sit Brandon and Brianna on my couch with a whole box of maple bars on Brandon's lap, 2 maple bars - one in each hand of each child, a half eaten maple bar on the box on Brandon's lap and Brianna covered in maple with a bar next to her upside down on the couch cushion next to her.....now in my earlier years of parenting with Sis and Cody, I prolly would have freaked and started cleaning like a mad lady, but in my recently aquired laid back approach I thought, now this is too cute, yes messy but definitely time for a picture, I ran to get the camera and got a couple shots, they are too cute! I finished with the pics, went in to tell Bill what I found, he was like oh my goodness, did you clean it up, I said NO, I took a picture :) We laughed, then he said are you gonna clean it up, I said NO, not right now, I'm gonna let them enjoy their maple bars for a few more minutes :) Every time I eat a maple bar I will NEVER EVER forget that oh so very sweet moment that Brandon tended to and got him and his baby sister Anna some breakfast so they could go play in the wa outide :)
I love experiencing parent as an older more patient parent!!!!!!
