This week (what am I saying it's only Tuesday, probably Wednesday by the time I post this) can already be summed up with the word CHAOS! Bill's days off were unusual in that he had Sunday and Monday off this week...we started out Sunday morning slow, but on a mission to complete several projects in the yard. To our surprise, instead of a day with 80 degree weather it ended up in the 100's, at one point Bill check the thermometer on weather bug and it was 101 degrees, but like I said we were on a mission and worked through the heat, staying hydrated, and finishing what we had set out to do. It is a very rare occasion that Bill and I have a day off together and we usually have a list a mile long, that we only begin, well not Sunday, this was the day of many, many accomplishments. We were finishing up our hot exhausting day around 9:00 or 9:30, just watering in the many, many plants and shrubs we had planted in our newly "made" flower beds and giving the garden a good watering when Brianna ran over to the garden where I was, as I showed her a butterfly (okay it was a white moth, but a butterfly to her) she started to walk toward me and all of the sudden her left leg gave out, she fell forward and whimpered a little. I looked at Becky and asked her what happened, she said nothing her leg just gave out, I had Becky carry her over to Bill under the light to see if Brianna had been bitten or anything, and I followed after I rinsed off my feet and left the hose to tend to the watering of the garden. Bill and I checked her over and saw nothing to explain her falling down and not being able to walk. We took her in to find a small splinter, but nothing that would explain her not being able to walk. We persisted to try and see if she could walk and nope, her leg was just not working properly. Bill and I had Becky and Cody stay with Brandon and we headed to the emergency room, we arrived there at 10:00 PM. We were all exhausted and very worried about little Brianna. We were seen by a PAC at 1:15 AM to which she said currently there was nothing seriously wrong with Brianna at the time and she suggested we let Brianna sleep on it, and take her to her pediatrician in the morning....this was a bit alarming to me, but it was 1:15 AM and we were all tired and definitely not getting anywhere with the PAC. She mentioned that sometimes little kids will sleep and "forget about being hurt" and be fine in the morning..... We got home a little around 1:45 - Bill put Brianna to sleep on her mattress on our bedroom floor, as we didn't want her up on her bed frame without the use of her leg....I jumped in the shower, send the office a quick email, and headed to sleep.....Bill, Brianna, and I were fast asleep by 2:30 AM.
6:45 AM I am woke up by the construction workers building a house next door, I cannot go back to sleep, I am worried sick about Brianna. I got up, did some work from home, called the office, left a message, took a shower, got dressed, did some more work, tried to call the office again, "man it was only 7:45" the Doctors office didn't even open until 8:00 AM. I woke Brianna up to check and be sure she still couldn't walk - she wanted to get in bed with Daddy, and attempted to take a step - to no avail. I put her back to sleep and waited, and waited, and waited until 8:00 AM. We got in to the doctor at 9:45.
Brianna has Toxic Synovitis in here hip, apparently it a viral infection that settles in your joint and muscles, and it is fairly common in toddlers...should only last a few days to a week, and we had a list of things to watch for....oh AND we should keep her quiet doing story time, movies, etc..for the next few days, YA right, the doctor does not know my daughter.
Needless to say I stayed home to help "keep the child quiet" and we all had a good nap that afternoon and Brianna is feeling much better. Today I went to work, a little late, due to Bill's dentist appointment, and a couple hours later, Bill, Brandon, and Brianna brought me lunch. Brianna has a little "hitch" in her hip, but is improving by the hour.
But wait we aren't done yet - Carissa, Becky, and Cody are heading to Uncle Dennis and Aunt Carol's for 5 days on Thursday, Brandon and Brianna have their first dentist appts on Thursday, there is a birthday party for our C.O. tomorrow at work, I am by myself Thursday afternoon at the office due to vacation/dentist appts, AND Bill and I have a couple more "outside projects" to get to and we are suppose to start painting in the house this weekend, Oh and we are going to begin looking for a new vehicle to replace the expedition ( too hard on gas ) and the Impala has an oil change scheduled for Saturday, and, and, and.......don't forget Brianna's birthday is the 10th, along with my dad, Carissa turns 16 on the 13th - her huge sweet 16 bash is the 16th, Tanya's birthday on the 17th, school clothes, school supplies, Brandon is starting pre-school....hmmmm I think my week is just the start of a very long end to the summer :)
I do not have any pictures to post as we have been, well running around like chickens with our heads cut off.
I am reminded tonight as I sit and reflect and look ahead how very, very blessed we truly are! We are so very thankful that nothing serious is wrong with our precious angel, and very glad all of our kids are able to be so active, healthy, and happy.
