Weekend with Cousins

The kids had a ball playing twister, flying kites, extending the garden, and just hanging out with their cousins last weekend. The girls had a blast doing silly pictures, and Cody & Darrick Jr. dodged the camera as much as possible! It reminded me of the fun times I had with my cousins as a child. Thanksgiving was a tradition where all extended family including Great Uncles, Great Aunt, Uncles, Aunts, and all my cousins would gather at Grandma and Grandpa Hanson's house and we would have too much to eat and spend all day playing from sun up to sun down. We put on plays for the adults to watch and would put on quite a show while dancing and singing. We don't have those big get together's any more, it saddens me a bit that my kids do not have the full understanding and traditions with extended family as we did growing up. I am so glad that we had the opportunity to have my niece, nephew, and my cousin over last weekend for just a "piece" of the fun you can have when cousins get together.
